Description

This medal shows St Thomas seated at a book with his finger raised in instruction. The holy spirit in the form of a dove is speaking its wisdom in his ear to inspire his writing.
St Thomas was the son of the wealthy Count of Aquino from Italy. He secretly became a Dominican friar in 1244. When his family found out, they kidnapped him and held him alone for a year to “deprogram” him; but as soon as they let him go, he rejoined his order. He studied in Paris and taught theology at the University of Paris. He wrote several books and is known for bringing Greek wisdom and scholarship methods an applying them to the study of Christianity. He was made a doctor of the church in 1567.
The medal was cast in sterling silver from an antique medal in the Rosa Mystica Collection so it shows all the beauty and history of the original piece. It comes with a matching holy card in an organza gift bag, ready for gift-giving, and was made in the USA.
