This medal features St Albert contemplating the Christ child on the front, with the inscription “Saint Albert O.P.N (Ora Pro Nobis)” which translates as “St Albert Pray for Us”. The other side features an image of Our Lady of Mt Carmel giving the brown scapular to St Dominic.
St Albert was known as the “teacher of everything there is to know”. He was born in 1206 in Germany and joined the Dominican order to become a teacher. In 1241 he was assigned to the University of Paris where he became professor to St Thomas Aquinas. He was a scientist before the age of science and was thought to be a wizard and magician during his own lifetime. He lived to a very old age, dying in Cologne, Germany, in 1280.
