This beautiful medal shows St Catherine at the time of her mystical marriage to Christ. Christ is depicted as a child seated on Mary’s lap and is putting a wedding ring on Catherine’s finger.
St Catherine of Siena dedicated her life to Jesus at age 7 when she had a vision of Christ, Jesus, John and Paul. Her parents tried to arrange a marriage for her, but she refused all suitors and became a Dominican lay-sister at age 15 and later experienced a mystical marriage with Christ in which he put a ring on her finger. She dedicated her life to working with the poor and needy and became an advisor to Pope Gregory XI and Pope Urban VI. She died in 1378 in Rome.
The medal was cast in sterling silver from an antique medal in the Rosa Mystica Collection so it shows all the beauty and history of the original piece. It comes with a matching holy card in an organza gift bag, ready for gift-giving, and was made in the USA.
