St Susanna is shown holding a cross to her chest in this lovely medal. The inscription around the edge is in French and reads “St Suzanne P.P.N. (Priez Pous Nous)” (St Susanna Pray for Us).
St Susanna was a young noblewoman in Rome who came from a Christian family. The Emperor Diocletian requested that she marry one of his sons, but she refused since she had made a private vow of perpetual virginity. When the emperor sent two men to convince her to submit to his will, she converted both of them to Christianity. In a rage, the emperor had her beheaded in her own home. This house later became the church that bears her name today.
The medal was cast in sterling silver from an antique medal in the Rosa Mystica Collection so it shows all the beauty and history of the original piece. It comes with a matching holy card in an organza gift bag, ready for gift-giving, and was made in the USA.
