This small French medal shows St Vincent de Paul with the French inscription “S. Vincent de Paul Priez Pour Nous” which translates to “S. Vincent de Paul Pray For Us.”

St Vincent de Paul was taken captive by Turkish pirates but released in 1607 when he converted one of his captors to Christianity. He became a parish priest in Paris and chaplain to the court of Henry IV. He worked tirelessly for the poor, the enslaved, the abandoned, the ignored and founded religious orders.
