This medal shows St Remi, the bishop of Rheims, with a dove.
St Remi was born to French nobility around 438. His mother, younger brother and nephew are all saints. A speaker noted for his eloquence, he became the bishop of Rheims, France at the age of 22 and served in the role for 74 years. In 496 St Remi baptized Clovis, the king of the Franks, and this opened the way to the conversion of all the Franks and the establishment of the Catholic Church throughout France.
