St Philip Neri was born in Florence in 1515. After leaving home to help a relative with his business, he escaped to stay at a Dominican chapel in the mountains. After he receiving a vision, he moved to Rome and worked as a tutor. He founded a society to help sick and needy pilgrims and lived as a hermit. He became a priest in 1551 to help further his work among the poor. He also drew a large following of young men seeking religious instruction. He was known for his good nature and friendly jokes.
The medal was cast in sterling silver from an antique medal in the Rosa Mystica Collection so it shows all the beauty and history of the original piece. It comes with a matching holy card in an organza gift bag, ready for gift-giving, and was made in the USA.
