This medal shows Pope Pius X holding a Host and Chalice, and the inscription reads “St Pius X Pray For Us.” Pope Pius X promoted daily communion for Catholics which was not common practice at that time.

Pius X was elected pope on August 4, 1903 and ended at his death on August 20, 1914. As pope he reformed the liturgy and reorganized the administrative elements of the Catholic Church. He also supported foreign missions.

The back of the medal shows Jesus surrounded by children and the inscription says “Suffer the little children to come to me.” which is from Matthew 19:14.
