St Catherine Laboure Medal – Patron of Waiters and Waitresses – Sterling Silver Antique Replica

Size: 3/4 inch
Material: Sterling Silver

This lovely medal shows St Catherine Laboure with the French inscription “S Catherine Laboure PPN” (St Catherine Laboure Priez Pour Nous – Pray For Us). The reverse has a beautiful portrayal of St Catherine apparition of the Virgin Mary in which she is kneeling at the feet of the Blessed Mother with the Christ Child to her left. The inscription reads “Apparition de la S Vierge A S C L (Avec St Catherine Laboure)” (Apparition of the Holy Virgin with St Catherine Laboure).

St Catherine Laboure came from a poor family with 11 children. After working as a waitress in Paris, France, she joined the religious order of the Sisters of Charity. On July 18, 1830, while she was still a novice, she received a vision of the Virgin Mary. Mary requested that a medal be struck in her honor and showed Catherine the images she wanted to appear on it. Mary said that wearers of the medal would receive great graces. The medallion, which would become known as “The Miraculous Medal” was first struck in 1832 and is still popular today. St Catherine lived the rest of her life as a simple nun helping the poor and sick. She died in 1876.

The medal was cast in sterling silver from an antique medal in the Rosa Mystica Collection so it shows all the beauty and history of the original piece. It comes with a matching holy card in an organza gift bag, ready for gift-giving, and was made in the USA.
