This medal shows St Teresa on the front and on the other side it shows an angel piercing a heart with an arrow. St Teresa wrote of such a mystical experience while in prayer.
St Teresa was born in 1515 to Spanish nobility. She was a very religious child who enjoyed reading the lives of the saints and playing “hermit” outside. She suffered from poor health, so her parents arranged for her to receive an excellent education at home. She ran away from home to join the Carmelite religious order when she was 17. After seeing that she had a true calling, her family allowed her to stay. She reformed the Carmelite order to make it more strict and wrote several books. She was a mystic who also was known for her sound common sense, and she was asked for advice from kings an popes.
The medal was cast in sterling silver from an antique medal in the Rosa Mystica Collection so it shows all the beauty and history of the original piece. It comes with a matching holy card in an organza gift bag, ready for gift-giving, and was made in the USA.
