This unique medal shows St Julian the Hospitaller helping people in a boat. The reverse the Greek Catholic church of “St Julian the Poor” in Paris which was built during the 13th century.

St Julian’s legend says that he was a wealthy nobleman who enjoyed hunting. On day in the woods a stag predicted to him that he would eventually kill his parents. Julian immediately took his wife and moved far away. Eventually his parents discovered him and came to visit while Julian was away. Julian’s wife gave his parents their bedroom, and when Julian came home and saw a couple in his bed, he assumed his wife was with another man and killed them both.

In penance Julian and his wife built a hospital beside a river where they treated the poor. Julian rowed people back and forth across the river for free.

The medal was cast in sterling silver from an antique medal in the Rosa Mystica Collection so it shows all the beauty and history of the original piece. It comes with a matching holy card in an organza gift bag, ready for gift-giving, and was made in the USA.
