Description

Size: 3/4 inch
Material: Sterling silver

This hard-to-find medal features St Henry holding a crucifix to his chest and a sword pointing toward the ground to symbolize peace.

Although he wanted to become a priest, St Henry became King of Germany in 1002 and Holy Roman Emperor in 1014. He married St Cunegunda, but legend says that they lived chaste lives and it is known that they never had any children. He spent his life trying to bring peace to Europe, established schools, and reforming the church. He also began the construction of the cathedral in Basil, Switzerland which took 400 years to finish. After Cunegunda’s death he wanted to become a monk, but the Pope refused his request, claiming that Henry could do more world in the world.

It was cast in sterling silver from an antique medal in the Rosa Mystica Collection so it shows all the beauty and history of the original piece. It comes with a matching holy card in an organza gift bag, ready for gift-giving, and was made in the USA.
