Description

This medal shows St Andrew carrying the instrument of his martyrdom, the X-shaped cross, and reading the scriptures.? The inscription is in Latin and reads “Sanctus Andrea Ora Pro Nobis” (St Andrew Pray For Us).

St Andrew was one of Jesus’ first apostles and the brother of Simon Peter, the rock on whom Christ built his church. John the Baptist pointed Jesus out to Andrew with the words “Behold the Lamb of God”. When Andrew began following Jesus, Christ asked him “What do you seek?” to which Andrew replied that he wanted to know where Jesus lived. Jesus responded “Come and see”. Andrew became a disciple of Jesus and continued to carry Christ’s message out into the world after the Lord’s death. When preaching in Greece, he was arrested and put to death on an X-shaped cross. He preached to crowds from the cross for two days before he died.

The medal was cast in sterling silver from an antique medal in the Rosa Mystica Collection so it shows all the beauty and history of the original piece. It comes with a matching holy card in an organza gift bag, ready for gift-giving, and was made in the USA
