This is a beautiful and unique cross featuring each of the four gospel writers in the arms of of the cross. I believe the original came from Spain.
St Matthew is on the top with his symbol, the winged man or angel; St Luke is on the right with his symbol, an ox; St Mark is on the left with his symbol, a lion; and St John is at the bottom with his symbol, an eagle. In the center are the letters “IHS”, an abbreviation of Jesus’ name in Greek. The inscription around the center is in Spanish and translates as “Apostolate of the Heart of Jesus”.
The opposite side shows Christ in the center. The top arm is inscribed in Latin, “Adveniat Regnum Tuum” (Let Your Kingdom Come), the Immaculate Heart of Mary is in the right arm, and the Sacred Heart of Jesus in in the left arm. The bottom arm shows a radiant cross.
It was cast in sterling silver from an antique medal in the Rosa Mystica Collection so it shows all the beauty and history of the original piece. It comes with a matching holy card in an organza gift bag, ready for gift-giving, and was made in the USA.
