St Joseph was the husband of the blessed Virgin Mary and foster-father of her son, Jesus. After the magi visited Mary and the baby Jesus in Bethlehem, Joseph took take the family to Egypt to escape the massacre of young children that took place when Herod, the ruler of Judea, sought to kill the “new king” whose birth he heard about from the visiting wise men. Upon their return to Nazareth the Bible states that he was a carpenter, and presumably he also taught Jesus his trade. He and Mary also searched for 12 year-old Jesus together after Jesus went missing during their passover visit to the temple in Jerusalem. When Jesus was found, Mary expressed their worry as his parents when she said, Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety. (Luke 2:48) Because he loved and provided for Mary and Jesus throughout his life, St Joseph is the patron saint of fathers, workers, and protector of the Church.
It was cast in sterling silver from an antique medal in the Rosa Mystica Collection so it shows all the beauty and history of the original piece. It comes with a matching holy card in an organza gift bag, ready for gift-giving, and was made in the USA.
