St Bernadette as a Young Girl Medal – Patron of Sick People – Sterling Silver Antique Replica

Size: A little over 1/2 inch
Material: Sterling silver

This beautiful little medal shows Bernadette at the age she was when she received her visions of the Virgin Mary at Lourdes. She is dressed as a peasant girl with a scarf over her hair. The inscription is in French and translates as “Blessed Berandette Pray For Us”.

The reverse of the medal shows St Bernadette kneeling before Mary. We know this medal dates from before Bernadette was canonized (officially made a saint) because she is referred to as “Blessed Bernadette” instead of “St Bernadette”.

The medal was cast in sterling silver from an antique medal in the Rosa Mystica Collection so it shows all the beauty and history of the original piece. It comes with a matching holy card in an organza gift bag, ready for gift-giving, and was made in the USA.

St Bernadette was only 14 when she received a vision of the Virgin Mary near Lourdes, France. Although she was an uneducated peasant girl, she spoke about seeing a “beautiful lady” who told her she was the “immaculate conception” (This was a recent church doctrine referring to Mary about which Bernadette could have had no idea!) Many people have been miraculously healed after bathing in the spring dug by Bernadette at Lourdes, and the grotto of her visions is still visited by thousands of people seeking healing today.
