This beautiful little medal show the Holy Infant of Prague surrounded by a radiant halo.
Nobody knows when the statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague was originally carved, but tradition holds that in 1628 Princess Polyxena von Lobkowicz of Bohemia gave it to the the Carmelites of the Church of Our Lady Victorious. Soon after this, Prague was invaded by the Swiss and when the church was sacked, the statue was thrown in a trash heap. 6 years later the statue, missing its hands, was found by Father Cyrillus. He claimed to hear the statue say ?Have pity on me, and I will have pity on you. Give me my hands, and I will give you peace. The more you honor me, the more I will bless you.? He returned it to the church where it has been venerated ever since. Many miracles have been attributed to the Infant of Prague.
The medal was cast in sterling silver from an antique medal in the Rosa Mystica Collection so it shows all the beauty and history of the original piece. It comes with a matching holy card in an organza gift bag, ready for gift-giving, and was made in the USA.
