St Blaise Medal

Blessing of Throats & St Blaise

Legend has it that in 316 St Blaise, the bishop of Sebastea (modern Sivas, Turkey), was arrested during a period of persecution. As he was being led to prison, a mother laid before St Blaise her son who was choking on a fish bone. St Blaise prayed over the boy, and he was healed. As a result St Blaise is the patron of those suffering from throat ailments.
